Boyer Landscapes, Inc. has made a commitment for 2011 to contribute a percentage of our gross sales, and give back to the community. This year, we will donate to WATTS (Winchester Area Temporary Thermal Shelter) and CCAP (Congregational Community Action Project). Both are local ministries that help those in need.
WATTS is a temporary shelter that is sponsored by local faith communities to help the homeless in and around Winchester during the winter months. Starting in December and continuing through March, the homeless are welcomed into churches for a warm bed and two hot meals per day. Each participating church will host the shelter for one week. Volunteers prepare and serve the meals each night. On average, 25-35 individuals use the shelter each night. CCAP provides financial, material, and supportive assistance to those in need, including food, clothing and toiletry supplies. CCAP's motivations is doing God's work in a world filled with very human needs. WATTS and CCAP work together with area churches to provide for the areas homeless. This January, Lew Boyer volunteered for a night to help serve a meal at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. Boyer Landscapes, Inc. provided 10 blankets for the shelter, and several bags of clothing for CCAP. Lew got to witness first hand what WATTS is about and how much it means to the participants. After that experience, Boyer Landscapes, Inc. has made a commitment to WATTS and CCAP for 2011. A cash donation in the amount of 500.00 was made to CCAP in january, to initiate our pledge. We will also be asking our clients if they would like to make donations above our commitment, by rounding up invoices, when making payments for contracted work. We are excited about this campaign, and encourage your involvement in making our pledge a success.
